We urgently need your help to protect public health in West Virginia. The West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection’s (WVDEP) Division of Air Quality (DAQ) is currently accepting public comments for Specialty Product’s draft air permit to emit ethylene oxide.
Why It Matters:
Ethylene oxide is an extremely hazardous substance known to cause cancer, mutations, and explosions. The EPA is proposing new rules to reduce emissions of ethylene oxide and other toxic air pollutants, providing essential health protections to communities near chemical plants.
These new rules are set to be released on the same day comments are due to the WVDEP: Friday, March 29, 2024; however, a request for a comment period extension was denied.
Tell WVDEP to incorporate the latest data and recommendations from the EPA before finalizing the permit.
How You Can Help:
Submit a comment to the WVDEP urging them to incorporate the latest science and data into Specialty Product’s permit renewal. Your voice matters in advocating for public health and safety. Take a moment to send a comment to WVDEP using the form now.
