Our state public lands provide opportunities for peaceful, non-motorized recreation. Our State Parks, Forests, and Wildlife Areas provide recreational activities like hiking, biking, hunting, fishing, and boating.
The legislature is considering a bill, SB 468, that would open the door for off-road vehicles on state public lands. Motorized trails are expensive to build and maintain, degrade soil and habitat, threaten watersheds and streams, and impact hunting and fishing.
There is a floor amendment that will prohibit any new motorized ATV or off-road vehicle trail in our state parks, forests, and rail trails. The full House of Delegates will vote on this amendment tomorrow March 4.
This is urgent! Contact your delegate and let them know you oppose off-road vehicles on state public lands. Ask them to vote yes on the floor amendment.
Fill out this form to contact your Delegate. We encourage you to customize your message for more impact – let them know how the value of our public lands is personal to you!
