The West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection (WVDEP) is reviewing its Rules Governing Water Quality Standards (47CSR2), and we need your input to ensure the protection of our public health.
Every three years, states must review and update water quality standards in a Triennial Review process. WVDEP kicked off this process in 2022. If you remember the 2019 Triennial Review process, you helped us get about half of the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA’s) 96 Human Health Criteria recommendations passed. Now its time for the other half!
Submit Your Comments Now: Send your comments to WVDEP, urging them to adopt the remaining Human Health Criteria during the 2022 Triennial Review. The EPA recommends adopting 41 human health criteria for some of the most toxic chemical pollutants, several of which are currently in use and discharged into our waters.
